Charachter Names and Meanings

(If the writing above cannot be seen, this is what is written) As a group we decided when creating our narrative that we will have a final girl, as this was a common convention we noticed in horror films we had come across. For example some well-known final girls were; ‘Lila Crane’ played by Vera Miles in Psycho- 1960, ‘Sidney Prescott’ played by Neve Campbell in Scream- 1996, or more recently Kristen Connelly who played ‘Dana Polk’ in 2012’s ‘The Cabin in the Woods’. One thing that many final girl characters have in common was that they all have unisex names which could reflect their masculine traits. We decided to carry this convention into our own horror trailer too. In our narrative, although our final girl caused no direct harm to Hayley, she did not stop the other girls from mistreating Hayley and so although Hayley doesn’t kill our final girl but she still tries to get revenge from her. As a group we discussed how having a hidden meaning behind the names of our characters would be a good idea. A member of our group suggested the word ‘noble’ and said this could be ironic if related to our final girl. As a group, we chose to name our final girl Aubrey. This was good as it was a unisex name and also had an ironic link to our final girl character.  The meanings of other words were also looked up.
